How We Started
Prior to opening Shipp-it Inc. in 2017, our president and founder, Michael J Shipp, had been handling the packaging and special logistics for the 7 North American facilities of a tier 1 automotive manufacturer. As much of the shipping was for new projects, trial shipments, equipment moves, or situations where the normal supply chain had been disrupted; it was challenging to find suitable logistics service providers. Communication was often ineffective and frequently the logistics companies either didn’t understand his needs, were ill-equipped to handle them or didn’t care about them. As a customer, this was very troubling to him, and it was something that stuck with him when he started Shipp-it Inc.
Our Mission
To provide excellent customer service by understanding and meeting the customer’s needs and to exceed the customer’s expectations through clear, effective communication and timely service.

Michael J. Shipp
I am Michael J. Shipp, founder and president of Shipp-it Inc. After years of handling the packaging and special logistics for a tier 1 automotive supplier, I found that too much of my time was spent negotiating rates, chasing delivery confirmations, and trying to find out what was going on with late trucks at the shipper or receiver; all while trying to manage my other responsibilities. For anyone responsible for shipping / receiving operations, this is a very familiar situation, especially if off process, irregular or expedited shipments are part of the operation. It is unlikely to meet anyone in this line of work who isn’t over tasked and under staffed.
In a just in time environment, any irregularity in production or the supply chain can change the urgency of a shipment. Regular shipments become time critical and time critical becomes expedited. At Shipp-it Inc. we understand this. Just about any freight services provider can handle regular shipments on their timing and in the way they want to handle it. The question is: Can the do it the way you need it done? At Shipp-it Inc, we can. Our focus is meeting your needs. With our sizable and diverse carrier base we tailor the solution to fit your needs, monitor the shipment and keep you informed, and if there is a problem, we will fix it. If you are looking for a better solution, try us. Your satisfaction is our focus.

Michael served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1987 to 1995 and participated in the liberation of Kuwait while deployed with 3rd Battalion 6th Marines.
After returning to civilian life, he worked in numerous fields including the oil field, intermodal freight, aggregates, corrections, and sales. In 2004 he earned a degree in computer science and went on to work as an operations analyst for a gaming/entertainment company (more commonly known as a casino).
In 2008 he took a position as a planner and analyst for a major 3PL and distribution company. In 2012 he took a corporate position with a tier 1 automotive supplier where he managed the packaging and special logistics for that company’s 7 North American facilities.
While working there he became disenchanted with the inability of freight service providers to understand and meet the logistics needs of his company.
This, in part, was his inspiration for creating Shipp-it Inc in 2017. Since then, he has grown the company by an average of more than 100% each year in operation.
